Usually lossless, and fast
iPhone videos are already H.264 or HEVC with AAC sound, which MP4 supports. So in most cases we don’t re-encode anything. We move the existing video and sound into an MP4 file as they are. Quality is identical and even long videos finish in seconds.
If a file contains something MP4 can’t hold, such as uncompressed camera audio, only that part is converted, and the result tells you exactly what changed.
HEVC (H.265) videos
Recent iPhones record in HEVC by default. It plays on iPhone, Mac, Windows 10/11 and modern browsers. If you need the MP4 to play on an older device or upload to a site that rejects HEVC, choose “Most compatible (H.264)”. That re-encodes the video, which takes longer.
Questions
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser using your own device. The file is never sent to our server or anyone else.
Will I lose quality?
Not when the video is copied as-is, which is the default for iPhone videos. You’ll see a note confirming “No re-encoding” on the result. Choosing “Most compatible (H.264)” re-encodes at high quality.
Is there a file size limit?
There’s no fixed limit, but your browser has to handle the file. Multi-gigabyte files work best in desktop Chrome or Edge. Phones have less memory. If a file is too large to process safely, we tell you before starting.
Does it keep portrait orientation?
Yes. The rotation information from your iPhone is kept, so portrait videos stay portrait.
